About

Permanent Maintenance (PM) is a 12,000-square-foot workshop, studio space and collective built to facilitate resource-sharing outside of an institutional environment. Located in Ridgewood, New York, PM consists of communal shop spaces for wood, metal, jewelry and ceramics, as well as private studio spaces available for rent to artists and fabricators.

At the heart of the name “Permanent Maintenance” is the constant drive to adapt and improve the studio for the benefit of members. PM is committed to growth as it embarks on a never-ending mission to cultivate a thriving community of artists and equip them with the resources they need to realize their work.

Permanent Maintenance was founded in 2017 by Wyatt Burns and Maxim Schidlovsky. Now occupying nearly 12,000-square-feet thanks to expansions in 2019 and 2021, the studio continues to grow as it works to fulfill its mission of providing resources and programming to the community.
