Facilities
Permanent Maintenance members have access to industrial facilities including wood, metal, ceramics and jewelry shops. In a commitment to safety and efficiency, facilities are kept clean and organized and equipment professionally maintained. Learn more about the shop spaces below.
Private Studios
Permanent Maintenance has 17 private studios of various sizes and amenities for artists, as well as larger studios with heavy power, compressed air and ventilation for fabricators and builders. All of the studios receive plenty of natural light from skylights or windows.
Ceramics
The light-filled ceramics studio features two communal tables, two Skutt 1027 electric kilns, a spray booth, slab roller, extruder, wedging table, slop sink and six wheels. There are eight private benches with dedicated storage as well as separate storage shelves on the lower level. See the full list of studio equipment here.
Jewelry Shop
The jewelry metal smithing studio features four private benches equipped with Foredom flex shafts, an acetylene soldering station, wax burn out kiln, vacuum caster, enameling kiln, polishing wheel, wax injector, mold vulcanizer, and more. See the full list of equipment here.
Metal Shop
The metal shop includes a variety of welders for mild steel, stainless, and aluminum, as well a miter bandsaw, cold saw, drill presses and grinders. There is also a brake and shear for bending and cutting sheet metal. See the full tool list here.
CNC
Discounted CNC rates are available for members to have material processed on a 4’x 8’ CNC machine located just beside the wood shop. Technicians are on hand to assist with file prep and setup.
Materials and Storage
Multiple storage racks are available in each shop area for members to keep large material including sheet goods, lumber and metal. Common material including plywoods, MDF and hardware are also stocked and available for members to purchase.
